I would beg to differ that just as important as serving the shippers is the fact that the railroad DOES benefit the drivers on Rt6 by keeping the 12,000 plus trucks off Route 6. Plus the wear and tear said trucks would do to Rt 6.(As has been pointed out previously.) So its not a simple matter of just "saving" $27m. At last some, if not most, of that money is going to be spent, somewhere (highway or Rt6.) Seems to me the railroad is the best option. And while it pains me to say it, $27m is a drop in the bucket these days.
