Mr. KRK does indeed seem to resist acknowledging that he has erred in some of his statements re the 2475. "Chas" has provided accurate information including the proper classification of the 2475: she was a P-8. She was however unique in that class and I will pose a "teaser" to see if any of the respondents can name the feature that made her one-of-a-kind in her class. "Chas" is also 100% correct about the run 2475 made to Monterey - he should know, he was there.

FWIW, I am in possession of original color slides of 2475 taken in Monterey the night of Dec. 31st - January 1st, 1957 /1958. The photographer was the late Stan Maguire (sp. ??) who was a passenger conductor for the SP and worked the SF - San Jose commute pool. By an amazing coincidence, "Chas" is prominently featured in one of the slides, lounging on the back platform of observation car CCRC 2901. Both the trips to Monterey and to Tracy were sponsored by Central Coast Railway Club.

If independent corroboration of what I and "Chas" are stating is desired, please refer to the LP, MEMORIES IN STEAM, recorded by the late Brad Miller and published by Mobile Fidelity. Side 1 is titled "San Jose to Monterey" and the jacket description is similarly worded. QED.
