I doubt that UP will do anything to decommission the 3985. Once the 4014 is in the shop at Cheyenne there will probably be a dual rebuild as the contractor doing the boiler work will be on site and will be able to address both locomotives. For further insight the video is a good source. Listen to the "off camera" conversations.
