When last seen running 3985 was pulling the worlds largest passenger train in 2010. The BB circus train. Her boiler didnt seem to be leaking much then! Steve Lee Retired right after that and 3985 was pushed to the back stall of the round house. Current regime has the big ass goal of restoring big boy 4014. So far, in nearly a year he has managed to move the dead hulk a few miles. We will all hope that his asperations end up being good for the UP steam program!. 3985 needs some work by now for sure, her 1475 days are up. But boiler issues are not uncommon and should not be a big deal. They have welders who can fix cracks. I've read lots of stuff that is obviously commin from the current regime. 3985's restoration was "slip shod" or what ever. At the end of it time will judge the tenure of Ed DICKens. How history judges him will be the real deal. Steve Lee has had his day. It was a good one.
