The roll out of that lumber car in Boston, a few years ago, is one reason for the higher level of protection now being required on industrial siding, on all active mains, not just NWP/Smart.
Yes, it does hurt business, and is costly, just like killing commuters also hurts business and is costly.
Why don't they apply for additional FRA Tiger funds for these added costs for a compliant switch off of what will be an active high speed passenger main line?
Maybe one of our two nearly useless US Senators from the Bay area could help with this?
