The current operational problems being experienced by northern tier railroads has nothing to do with a lack of regulation over the railroads. Rather, it is the stupid environmental obfuscations/regulations regarding so-called "greenhouse gases" per this whole climate change fraud that has skewed the energy markets.
If not for government interference, the Keystone Pipeline would be up and running by now, shifting the movement of most crude oil where it belongs - in pipelines, not oil trains.
If not for government interference, most of our coal would be going straight to our own newly constructed coal-fired power plants (usually a shorter haul) rather than being exported over the long haul via PNW ports.
If not for the idiot Jimmy Carter and the falsification of documents regarding profitability, the Milwaukee PCE would still be up and running.
In short, if not for government interference, there'd be plenty of equipment and capacity to move our export grain to our export markets.
