Does anyone know if these trains have to have a conductor and assistant conductor on board or can they be operated by an engineer only? I think the Sprinter operates with just an engineer. Since tickets have to be purchased before boarding would they just have roving fare inspectors and no conductors?

Would engineers and conductors be represented by rail union or bus drivers union...or would the initial hires be non-union who would have to organize to be represented?
