I recall that when the O-A-B cars were new, the editor of Electric Ry Journal expressed concern about the lightness. He compared it to a contemporary New York car.
The basis of comparison was pounds per foot of length, a very good measure I think.
I spose a proper comparison, given that the SP cars were 58 feet long - but that is over end sills and does not count the vestibules- would be length over end sheets, or buffers.
Other cars to include should be the Chicago cars that used salvaged PCC components' some New York cars, like 1910-ish and an R42 or R44 maybe- close to the build date of the BART cars. ANd throw in the SP C60-2 or -3.
Another spec, if available, would be the design buff load for each.
And the Peninsula Vans
Those who remember/have saved the little monthly "Everywhere West" will recall John Signor's sketch. It was based on a Forvrolet van with typical SP details such as train indicator boards
