Ken that's what I was trying to say
The classification were 58 EMC, 58-ETC-
SP classed its pass cars by length over end sills
Those, on the Harriman 60 ft coaches the OAB cars etc are at the ends of the carbody, where the steps and vestibules start. so the centersills and roof add 8-10 ft or so
BART and all but a few classes of NYC and Chicago cars have doors in the middle regions of the car,
Thus an SP 58-EMC is actually longer than an SP 60-C, when the steps are included
So that's why I proposed length over end sheets as the length
Let's see if the formatting I worked so hard ro achieve actually works
The preview looks ok
a 62 ton OAB EMC averages 124000/73 say 1700 pounds/foot
Or using end sheets about 124000/70 1770

SP wood coach ca 1906 89000/65 1370
SP steel 60 C 1909 87000

A customary way to compare car weights ca 1910 was by square foot. As the O-A-B cars were wide,
a sq ft comparison may have made them look a lot lighter.
CAn anyone please supply some similar numbers for the original BART cars?
