Cal-Tech can afford to do that. they have a primary customer with very deep pockets, oh BTW said
customer is also the one on the hook for the disaster at Ivanpah. Yes it works, yes it has a huge
subsidy (ie their payment is above what the retail customer pays) and yes, they've barely hit 60%
of what's required to guarantee their loan they took out from the government for the load they took
out from the government in the first place. Once you get over the lunacy, nuke power works very
well (Palo Verde at .03/kwh).
