At one time, well into the 1960s if not 70s, there was too much power from Hetch-Hetchy, so an aluminum plant (SSF or Redwood, not sure) was assigned to use it (and pay for the juice). AFAIK, it was the only non-SF City use of the power. Is this plant/load now gone?
