A VERY large flywheel, spun up by energy when the windmills were operating, running a VERY large
generator for when they're not! Dave's remarks about the lack of predictability of the power source are very true and unfortunately about the last thing that the wind group wants to hear. Add
to that that the 5 or so acres taken from farm production of each turbine, the access roads, the
grid network and you've got something less attractive. I hear people unfamiliar with farming
asking why the land can't be farmed and the answer is it's just like the energy. It's a little tough to center post irrigate with a windmill stuck in the middle of your field so the crop output
depends on the weather!
