Re: PTC losses, automated cars, and the "can't do" culture.....

Investment for "PTC" is being spent on trucks and cars, as was shown last week in Las Vegas...... Oh, you mean that they can safely fully automate cars in an open environment, but we don't have the skill set to do this on trains?
And, I can personally confirm that we've had the same FCC problems with providing the band width for things like DSRC from traffic signals to the automated cars. Which is why the tech and auto makers have gone to a system architecture for the automated cars and trucks that are completely autonomous, using advances in detecting traffic signals visually, instead of using a simple transponder. They felt that they just couldn't afford to wait for Caltrans or the FCC.
And, of course, there are billions in human caused freight train losses to third parties from rail freight crashes to consider, as well as passenger deaths (and injuries?). Since liability is "capped" per incident, by law, regardless of fault, as we have seen at Chatsworth, many will never receive full compensation for their injuries or losses, either.
When exactly did America become a nation of chronically whining "can't do" losers........?
