Re: SMART's Weekday Ridership is 27% Below Forecast According to SMART's Annual Report

The second set of evening trains (four trains, lv. San Rafael at 659p, 729p, 759p, 835p) appear to be mostly empty. I would be interested to know if Farhad broke down the ridership figues into "trips" as SMART refers to their trains.
For those unfamiliar: SMART runs an earlier set of trains at 359, 429, 459, 529.
The elephant in the room remains. Why can't SMART run a full commute schedule provide half hourly service from 4pm to 7pm? And why did SMART persist in leading the public to believe the half hour service would provided, an effort which continued basically all the way to May 2017, when the proposed timetables were finally released. SMART released a timetable in November 2016 that had the required half hour service in the commute hours.
The ridership is not at Larkspur. It's not space-based. It's time-based. SMART needs to abolish the mostly empty late night trains and run commute trains during the commute hours during which it currently does not run commute trains, despite being a commuter railroad dedicated to this purpose.
The public also deserves to know why SMART misled the public into believing there would the promised half hourly commute service.
As in Watergate, what did the SMART board and staff know, and when did they know it?
The facts need to come out. There needs to be a reckoning. There needs to be some sort of change so that SMART can start focusing, honestly and transparently, on providing full commute service!
No one needs to be fired, but the lid needs to be taken off the stew so we can see what is going inside the pot.
