Interesting, but it isn't the regional agencies trying to impose TODs on suburban communities, it's the state legislature. The bills already passed and the ones being worked on right now are aimed at the whole state, or at least the cities and counties that are saying, "Not our problem. You build someplace else."
Reading about the problem on other sites has at least increased my knowledge of acronyms:
NIMBY - (of course) Not In My Back Yard
BANANA - Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anything
CAVE - Citizens Against Virtually Everything
and on the other side, mainly young renters who want more housing
YIMBY - Yes In My Back Yard
