To quote Fact 5:
"Your job is in actual jeopardy because of facts 1, 2, 3 & 4. Surely, you have noticed that the news industry is in sharp decline. We unwashed ordinary Americans no longer believe much of what we hear in the news anymore; and even worse, wonder about what was left out (it's often obvious something was left out). Having lost almost all credibility, the traditional media is no longer of much use to anyone wanting the real facts before they make up there own minds - about anything."
:
More people choose to watch American Idol than the news. Looks like the ET's and TMZ's out there are gaining popularity as well. The public would rather hear more about Britney's new boyfriend than something useful or educational. It's not entirely the media's fault that it's more interesting to "gossip" than to "educate".
You can't break the ice in a good way by saying: "Do you know the average number of babies in a panthers' litter?" It comes off a little odd, but if you were to try "Hey, what do you think about Gweneth Paltrow's decision to go brunette?" , it would go off better around the water cooler.
Find me someone with infinite knowledge, and I will tell you to get them a job as a columnist. The many hours of research and writing are sometimes a thankless job. And even if it's not your fault, the fingers point to you because, after all, your name is plastered all over the mistake.......... A lot more different than the weatherman's "uh-oh, sorry about today" weather forecast. Chances are that the weatherman's mess-ups are made in the same scenarios, but don't cut as deep.
So Q, tell me where to get pure, clean, news without an adgena of some sort. truth.com? Perez Hilton? Where?
The only thing that you can do (or should do) is to not follow the herd. Change the channel to Jeopardy and stop watching the useless stuff. Go against the trends and take time to learn something new everyday.
