My intent was to point out to the reporter why no one respects the traditional media.
Yes, the funnies are read more than the news, but only because they actually are worth more. We all could use some good humor now and then. But also because the news we get is almost worthless. As to Paris Hilton, American idol, Britany, etc - who can account for taste!
And no, I do not know where to get the unvarnished truth, but it doesn't seem to take too very much critical thinking to detect when your not getting it. At least part of the time anyway!
All I know to do is to wade through it all (especially the back pages)and try to connect the dots. Also, ignore the headlines - read the depths of an article - try to find multiple original sources. Most importantly, don't even bother with the "Blathering" TV newscasts!
Too bad I'm not retired. I'd actually have the time to do this. But I guess that lack is the reason we rarely actually get what we really wanted to vote for. A joke I once heard on the late show near the end of the LBJ administration illustrates that last point -
"They told me if I voted for Barry Goldwater, we'd all get into a war. Well - I voted for Goldwater - And sure enough, we all got into a war!" - hehe
