SMART won the sales tax election. But let's not rehash totally
made-up claims. Rail is a boondoggle. Voters supported it. But
it doesn't change the facts:

In the Sonoma-Marin corridor, rail is a highly cost-INEFFECTIVE
solution to managing traffic. It simply doesn't take many
cars off the road. And its costs are huge ...over $450 million
in capital costs (probably higher) up front, before anyone rides
the train. Also, we know no one will ride any train until late
2014, at the earliest.

I know that this blog doesn't care for buses, but on an economic
basis, given that we already have bus service in corridor, it is
a no-brainer that they would take more people at far less cost.
