A 2nd deck on the GG bridge may be technically feasible but only at enormous cost. Add to that the cost of a new Marin approach and you could probably fund SMART for the next 20 years.

SMART cannot use electric cars on the NWP row north of Novato because it would interfere with freight operations. And don't even THINK of a new row for an electic trolley.

We live in a democracy and the people have spoken. They want rail transit even with a bike path. They do not want highway widening.

Finally, no one at SMART or NCRA is getting rich off taxpayer money. In fact, the members of the NCRA board have not accepted their stipends for attending meetings for years. As a civil servant for over 30 years (and not a rich one either) I find the suggestions made by some on this board that all (or even most) public agencies are corrupt to be unfounded, irresponsible and insulting.
