I have nothing against pork but let's cook it right. Lay in a second track, electrify, and buy standard light rail cars instead of dmu's. Extend track's end to Marin City, replacing the North Bay end of the #80 GGT trunk bus line to San Francisco with all day operations instead of just commute hours. And start working on lobbying the Bridge District for that second deck for light rail(maybe even some extra auto lanes for safety's sake). The GG Bridge is a maintenance intensive but underutilized asset.

Electrification of SMART would be a worthwhile investment for the future and would provide a superior service thus more ridership. A better tasting pork in the long run.
