One of my favorite memories of these SP 2-6-0's was the Daylight catching up to us at track speed near Banta about 1955. Something must have happened to the power at Martinez and they scrounged for anything to get the train to Tracy. What a thrill! It was all my Dad could do to keep up with loco into Tracy.
