I think 3420 is in serious running for the tile of “Once restored locomotive that has hauled the fewest passengers.” I know we gave about 600 rides to phelps dodge employees in 1985 and the R&LHS convention also in 1985 when she also operated in the plant. She did a presentation for the Texas Sesquicentennial train (that never happened) in the refinery and double headed in 1984 with 4449 (the first double heading of SP steam since SP suspended steam operations). Beyond that the only other public displays have been stationary. SP 3420 has not operated since December 1985. For the record it returned to operation in 1981 for a City of El Paso Celebration.
