My guess that the 1727 was placed in Dunsmuir because of it's size. The Loco was taken to Mott and put on a flat bed truck and taken down Hwy 99 to its present location. I think a Deck, 3600 or Cab forward would have been a good choice for Dunsmuir. I'm very glad that the fire train engine was saved at Roseville, but again a Cab Forward would have seem more appropriate for Roseville. By the way, I stopped by Dunsmuir Yesterday and didn't see the Whistle on the 1727. did I miss something or did someone remove it??
