Just south of Larkspur, at Detour, the R/W turns from West, goes under 101, and heads west to Baltimore Park. I'm not sure what happens between there and Almonte, but it does go to the north side of Sausalito (Waldo). Is this Chapman Tunnel or the one at Greenbrae? The one at Greenbrae was always single track, and I get the impression from Harre Demoro's NWP book that Chapman tunnel was too.
Bike paths and railroads don't mix. There have been places where it's been attempted, using fences, but people break down the fences. Bicyclists have this notion that they have Divine Use of wherever they are and can ignore stop signs. Joggers use walkmans and MP3 players, and thus they don't hear the whistle of an approaching train.
