In my hometown in New Jersey there is an area of a busy highway (Route 17) that has a nice pedestrian bridge. On either side there are bus stops. In the middle of the highway is a five foot high concrete divider wall.

I have seen people cross the highway here instead of using the pedestrian bridge in order to try to get to their bus, crossing three lanes of 60 MPH traffic in one direction, scaling the concrete divider, and crossing three lanes of 60 MPH in the other direction.

I have even seen them do this with luggage.

This is the way people are.
