It could be that it was the conductor, saw a bit last week on Northwest Cable News about an Operation Lifesaver sting that the UP and the Idaho State Police were doing on the former SI, now Spokane Sub over Hwy 41 with lite engines going over the crossing repeatedly and the referred to the man running the engines as the conductor (many times!). Idaho State Police wrote 60+ citations in an afternoon. Most drivers claimed they didn't see the flashing lights or the train----including drivers on video speeding up to beat the train (that they "didn't see"). Was this a push pull train?? By the way, federal law prohibits train crews from carrying fire arms or other weapons on duty. Same for truckers, airline pilots and ship captains. Wouldn't want any bad guys or mass killers to have to face someone shooting back you know.
