Hey Mongo,
When you talk about one persons "transgressions" resulting in the over-reaction of a "new policy" you remind me of HOAs and apartment managers. A friend owned a condo, his roommates kid was leaving her big wheel on his porch. Instead of just talking to him, a "new policy" was issued.
Since he was the only person in this small condo group to have a kid living there, it was obvious to everyone who the target of the new policy was. It's not just bad management, it's intended to embarrass and single out a person publicly. It's childish, in other words.
When it comes to politics, "the more local the more yokel." I used to hold up HOAs as the more local-yokel example of politics. Now I have a new example.
And regarding "other boards," without being specific, let me just say that it works best the the board moderator follows the same rules that are selectively enforced on users -- in theory. I say in theory, because it never seems to work out that way in practice.
