Joel,
Without going through your opinion point-by-point, I will just sum it up by saying that what you wrote is pretty much identical to what I have written. You are preaching to the choir. David's board is his board, Todd's board is his board....I agree, and have said so MANY times. That's not the issue.
I don't want to be repetitive, so I'll just leave it at that. You obviously have not followed everything that I have written---which is fine. There's no law that says you have to. But I did want to point this out.
One note I would like to make.......I find it extremely interesting that of all of the recent posts on AP in, say, the last year or so, the threads that have been the most popular (in terms of number of postings) are the threads where I have brought up some interesting topics. If people hate it so much, it would be ignored. However, quite the opposite happens. People are free to read something and not respond and just ignore it, however, that is not what has been happening. I'm happy to say that I have been able to contribute and "spice up" the board a bit, and get people active and involved with their opinions. That's what "discussion" boards are all about---discussions. So for the complainers, I just have to laugh at what I read, because you are putting yourself right in the middle of it as well---and seem to be enjoying it. A few months ago, my discussion even prompted the idea of a "tip jar" of sorts, which many people said they would gladly contribute to. It was David's choice, but he chose not to do anything about that. He says he needs to consult an attorney about keeping the AP board up, while at the same time, shutting down the AP publishing division. I don't understand what that means, but then again, I'm not a lawyer (and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night). But that tip jar, by now, could have paid for a legal consultation and we could have had an answer by now. But as I've said now for the umpteenth time, it's David's board and he could do whatever the heck he pleases with it.
And Joel, to answer your question as to why David "has to" personally contact me, he doesn't. I'm getting repetitive (again!), but this is his board and he can do whatever he wants. Am I getting my message across clearly enough? I simply answered his question when he asked how he could possibly contact me when all he had was my IP address and 2 screen names? I gave him the answer to his question. I'm wondering why you have a problem with this? And if you re-read what I wrote about that whole issue, you should understand my point. Why "punish" a whole group of people when it's not necessary? Just talking to the person in question should be enough. But as I said, most people aren't meant to be managers, supervisors, or moderators. It takes a certain sixth-sense, life experience, and training in order to really do things right.
