The Del Monte was diselized in 1955, but I am not sure as to when the turntable was retired. The branch through Pacific Grove to the sand plant west of there was still active in 1964, but I think it was retired and cut back to Monterey in the late 1960's. The Del Monte was still going to Monterey until Amtrak took over in 1971, and shortly after that the branch was cut back to Sand City.
Whoever stated that the three P-6 Pacifics, the 2453, 2454, and 2458 were Del Monte power. They had 9000 gallon tanks so that they could be turned on the Pacific Grove turntable. I am not aware of the 2476 or 2477 being used on the Branch, except for a 1956 excursion.
I think the baloon track at Ord was installed during World War II, if not earlier. Big power, including 4-8-4's operated that far for troop trains.
