I was on the North Coast Limited when it derailed at Granite Lake. There are some very good accounts of what happened, however, you had to be inside a coach to see and hear what happened to passengers. Help did not come for a long time after the derailment. Many passengers were cut by flying glass and had broken bones. My car(dome car) was situated cross wise at the top of the embankment. Doors were jammed shut so fire axes had to be used to smash windows out to get out and later to get passengers out on stretchers. There is allot more...... Fredric Wolden, New Berlin, WI 53151,
