THE UP wants to build a fence along their tracks that run along Olive Dr, to prevent trespassers from using the ROW as a shortcut to downtown Davis.
The Davis mayor & city council are opposed a 2/3 mile long continuous fence. They want the railroad to include a gap in the fence to allow people who live in trailers or low-income housing to cross near the Davis train station, rather than walk down to the underpass at Richards Blvd. UP doesn't want the liability from this arrangement, an area which see up to 354 trains per week.
