Last May, we were traveling through Nebraska, along hwy.30 and UP's busy main. Many of the small towns had fences up, new and bright. These towns were quite small compared to Davis, yet any Rail who has to run over any person, anywhere, anytime, will always be scared for life. It's not in thier job discription to have to deal with taking a persons life, just because said person was being stupid. Some towns had a nice pedestrian bridge, which was a great idea and Davis should have thought of that when they did the station remodel.
The Davis station location is a dangerous place to cross the tracks anyway, as it sits on a blind corner and I've observed that the sound of a train is buffered because of that, having been surprised by a few trains while sitting on benches away from opposite ends of the corner.
We have population expanding and for 80% of us who do the right thing, its the other 20% that force these measures on everyone. And the UP police are just doing what they have to do in thier job discription......
Build the fence.
