I have to say that I thank the UPRRPD for at least trying to educate the population, if it saves only one life it is worth the effort. A ticket is a small price to pay for saving your life.
As I review publications for articles to place into the nightly Trainnews.org postings, I routinely reject between 10-30 articles an evening as they bemoan the late John or Jane Doe, who ran across the tracks, drove by the gates, etc. I see no reason to publish these articles as they are not RR news, just another example of families changed forever due to someones lack of attention.
I wish that train crews did not have to experience the lasting effects of a trespasser strike. One thing is that the family will lose a loved one or ones, but the crew will also feel the effects for the rest of their lives. It is not just a train, it is people and lives.
On the other hand why do we put the same type of idiots in public office so that they can ignore issues that do not have to do with being re-elected. Let one of those officials lose a family member to a train and things will change. Folks in Davis should join with the RR to force the politicians to build a save crossing.
Lastly, Drew has a right to his opinion and folks have a right to agree or disagree with his point of view. We do not have the right to insult the readers and posters with 2 year old sandbox tactics [it just shows how old you are]. Drew has had life experience that forms his opinions, just as all of us have had and they have formed our opinions. Respect of other's points of view is what this country stands for. So give it break and say something intelligent.
