What is your sources of news to make such a generalization statement? Some (many?) Employers are already reviewing job applicants' Facebook pages. It's not a stretch to think that some will conduct other searches. I also know of someone who posted political commentary on an internet forum (as I often do) and this made the local newspaper.
You even prove my point. If employers are "too busy rejecting applicants with college degrees*," they are using other screen criteria.
*If a a job announcement specifies a college degree and 100 people for the job and only 5 are invited for an interview, then that's 95 who are rejected. This does not make the employer "too busy too busy rejecting applicants with college degrees to worry" about what they may post on an Internet Forum. While I would agree that the employer would not search all 100 applicants' internet postings, it is conceivable that an employer could use it screen from the 8 best applicants to 5.
