Could you fellows provide a little more clarification about the jurisdictions. "The Police Man" said above that Amtrak policemen are commissioned in the individual states in which they reside (state authority.) "Erik H." has just said that they are a federal law enforcement agency. It doesn't seem like they could be both, or can they?

If they are federal, can they or do they enforce state laws?

Another question--When on board Amtrak (federal) trains, is it like being on federal property where a person is not really in a state's jurisdiction. I was once told that when on Beale Air Force Base, I was technically NOT in California and state laws did not apply there.
