They've got some K-9 Kops in northern California, probably showing the flag due to bin-Laden's notes about attacking trains. They hang out at stations and occasionally ride trains from one station to the next, but seem to look kind of lost. Can't blame them, though; they're only doing what they're told. There are a few locally-assigned POs, but are rarely seen, especially onboard. (I do suppose they have a lot of ground to cover.) The irritating thing is that, while there is all this hype about fighting terrorism, train crews and station personnel could sure use some help with dull, everyday things like theft, assault, intoxication, and fare evasion.
