Ex-SP Mococo Line Status?

So the day before yesterday I had to drive from Antioch back to LA and chose to use the back roads to I-5, including Byron Road which parallels the old Mococo. I noticed that all the old block signals are gone. A few relay cases remain, but their drop cables have been cut and are just hanging oot of the weatherheads, and the code lines are gone.
Yet all the crossing protection remains and looks as if being maintained.
Is the line technically still in service? If so, I did not think UP would be allowed by the Feds to remove the ABS. If not, then why are the gates and flashers all still there?
One DRGW-style tri-light signal remains, just west of Tracy, but it is turned to the side. Also I thought it was neat that the classic old-style flasher cantilevers are still in service at the Eleventh Street crossing, even though the gate mechanisms and the surrounding cityscape look quite modern. You don't see too many of those old-style cantilevers any more.
What is the status of this line? And, what is its future? Thanks.
