I apologize for being late to the game with this, but the UP dragged the "mothballed" cars parked on the Mococo back into Tracy on Sunday, March 4, around noontime.
The Mococo runs behind behind the houses at the end of my block here in Tracy. On that day, I walked out of the house and could hear the cars clacking slowly on the tracks; I ran down to the sidewalk and could see the boxcars beyond the houses.
Unfortunately, the slow-moving train (10 MPH, perhaps) had all the main thoroughfares through town clogged -- Corral Hollow, 11th Street and Tracy Blvd. -- so I had to use back streets to try to catch the train ... and by the time I got through, it had reached the Transit Center downtown.
And, of course, to make my day complete, the battery in my camera was dead, so I ended up taking The Shakiest Railroad Video You've Ever Seen of the crew cutting out a few centerbeam flatcars while the rest of the train waited on the Mococo, blocking Tracy Blvd.
