The signals were donated "in place" by the UP to the PLA. PLA crews did all the work to remove the signals and haul them to Niles Canyon. If the line is going to be signaled in the future UP will probably put in tri-light signals.

Way back when the SF and SP were going to merge, the Santa Fe management were looking forward to using the Mococo line and West side line south of Tracy as a shortcut to Fresno. It would have totally bypassed Stockton. Still seems like a good idea (except for the missing track between Firebaugh and ?).
