Just wondering what life would be like with out Amtrak? Or, a mostly non-user funded Amtrak. I think folks on the West coast would be less impacted for sure.

I enjoy a ride on the Cascades several time time a year, quite a bargain over driving my car.

But seriously (no politics please), if it came to it ... would losing all or some of the funding be such a bad thing. Could the "Private Rail Roads" or regional authorities fund and service the needs of the ridership?
