Its been mentioned many times before on this forum that no passenger service makes real money. No matter where you are in this world, the government has a hand in it mostly due to the magnitude of infrastructure required. This is not the 1800's where a ll they had to do is chop the trees down and lay track!

While the rest of the world builds HST's to run on dedicated infrastructure, the US relies on the same routes that they chopped down the trees for when the railways first appeared on the scene!
