Re: Government's Purpose Made Clear !

OH BOTHER !
After recovering from being appalled at such an outrageously ignorant notion; wondering what scum pond, sewer, or other corner of hell it crawled out of; and how it seems to have infected so many; I then remembered where the real purpose of government was clearly and succinctly declared - by the "Founding Fathers".
And the real beauty of it is that IT IS THE LAW OF THE LAND; whether you like or agree with it, or not. -- It's a done deal
I quote:
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union,
establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common
defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to
ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the
United States of America."
If it ain't in there, then those good men (rare men indeed) obviously did not think it was part of the purpose of Government.
And NOTHING is in there that even hints at "Redistribution of wealth"! And no - promoting the general welfare does not mean the welfare of any private individual, or any select group of private entities, but rather the good of all [at once], as in "a rising tide lifts all boats".
The general welfare of virtually all groups and organizations, even families, is gained by holding and using some (not all) assets in common - those that cannot be effectively used or even assembled privately or singly; such as roads, waterways, rights of way of any sort, sewer plants, dams and on and on.
Armies and Navies also come to mind. There is also virtual infrastructure and economic systems to be organized. All of this is held in common and used in common; thus is paid for in common (ie. taxes). It is NOT redistribution, to require that each pay for his/her portion of the common wealth.
Redistribution is a devilish and clever word, disguising its reality. It specifically refers, at least as Karl Marx used it (he coined it), to the taking of property and wealth, obviously without any compensation; from one private entity, with the express purpose of granting it to other private parties. No public purpose here - no commonly held wealth is created - just a politician pandering for the votes of those private persons that receive the grant. In fact - the end result over the last 140 years it has been tried, is that most of the the confiscated wealth is destroyed by the very process of taking it.
My Pappy might have been steadfast and old fashioned, but before he turned me loose on society, he made sure that I plainly understood that the taking of anything, for any reason without fair compensation, was just plain old fashioned THEFT. Pure and simple! And that using the sophistry of big fancy words to sugarcoat it would never turn the evil of it into anything other than more evil.
So who turned all these people loose on society, that don't seem to get that simple truth?
