Even if it is only a 1/4 mile long, you don't want to be in a hurry on 6%.
I should mention that with retainers turned up to 20# - It is about the same as "retaining" an 8 pound reduction since every pound of brake pipe reduction below the auxiliary reservoir pressure results in 2-1/2 pounds of brake cylinder pressure (until you equalize). A subsequent release and brake reapplication after recharging ADDS to the brake cylinder pressure retained by a retainer.
I am very fond of the SP SW8s with dynamics having had a few cab rides in San Diego. It was always interesting to see the dynamic fan spinning right in front of the cab. There are rumors of a fan launching into the air once due to a failed bearing. Mr. Samuels - Do you know what the amperage rating or pounds retarding force the dynamics create? Are they comparable to a GP7 or less?
Thanks
