I looks like the driver may have been directed to cross by the Police or the security folks directing the Parade. It will be interesting to see if the driver confirms whitness reports that he was directed to cross, if so the city will need to take responsibility....

Also how much time is given for the train to cross if it is going 79mph from the time the gates activate to it crosses. Some reports seem to indicate that they had 15 - 20 seconds warning, is the time frame correct, if so seems that if folks were aware they could have gotten off the trailer, however that might have just put them in harms way if the trailer swung towards folks as impact.
