In the early 70's, SD40's and 45's occasionally operated all the way to Eureka, although it seemed that some effort was made to turn them at Willits; big power was also infrequently used on the Willits helper set. During that period, one Scotia local was even assigned an SD45 that ran up to Carlotta, and NWP Timetable No. 2 (8/22/71) doesn't list any engine restrictions except for a few industry tracks.
