There are several photos of an Alco RSD5 on the line, and mention that one was regularly assigned. I personally saw an SD39 at Lone Pine (and there are published photos/notes suggesting this was a regular assignment for them). I also saw an SD9 or GP9 a few years before the line closed - both were also used. Photos show F units on a couple movie trains. A borrowed Trona unit was supposed to be the last train to clean out the line before they started pulling rail for the shoo fly.

Not sure what else ran beyond Searles, but it was not limited to SD9s by any means. I would like to know more about what power and locals worked out of Mojave. I imagine power for the Lone Pine local, other locals out of Mojave (which one did the switching?) all shared power. Were the manned helpers assigned out of Taylor/Colton, Mojave or Bakersfield? I'm sure the power at Mojave had to rotate to Bakersfield or south for service. HWhen did the enginehouse at Mojave close?
