EUKA had a good group of guys to work with.

The most restrictive ratings I ever worked with was at Tillamook. An SD9 was only good for 5 loads from Enright to Cochran, 6 on a very good day. You really had to get the most of those engines if you had rain and wet leaves on the rail. Sometimes backing off on the curves, and trying to get it back when the engines were on the tangent. Auto sand and 10# on the independent and one helluva fight.

By contrast, the 70 tons at Peninsula Terminal were good for far more cars then at Tillamook, but then again they weren't fighting up 3% and curves.

Sadly the old EUKA and POTB will probably never see another freight.
