You're right about Mikes being predominant power during the time of steam. MK-6 3266 was a
regular out of Mojave on this job and she even showed up in a Richard Widmark movie about
recruit training. 63" drivered engines were favored account of all those miles involved,
although 57" drivered Mikes were also used.

I used to go jack rabbit hunting on Saturday mornings with buddies when stationed at Edwards
from '66 to '69. We'd frequently see the train returning out by Cantil and boy, they were
sure going like they were after an early quit.
