An inward facing camera would NOT have prevented the accident. Even if someone were watching, how could the driver have been alerted???

An inward facing camera might have a potential to prevent deliberately wrong activities. OTOH, texting while driving is stupid and dangerous. Period. That does not need an inward facing camera. That needs an awareness of safe operation, which apparently was not the case in Chatsworth (as a nice guy that engineer apparently was).
