Maybe so, My railroad life only extends from age 7 to age 88 with 32 years as a Supervisor in both M of W and Transportation.
When I rode in locomotives as both rider and supervisor I stayed awake and required the train and engine crews to do the same and comply with the rules.
Have been involved with too many runaways with the hoghead asleep when cresting a grade or being incapacated with a mind bending substance or asleep with catastrophic results.
An incpacited hoghead while supposed to be operating the train leaves the train out of control.
Was it ok for Ricky Gates to be high on drugs and operating a locomotive in front of an Amtrack Passinger train and his fellow employees knowing it?
The employees that allow hogheads to sleep and protect them are the ones the hoghead is going injure or maybe worse.
Maybe I am clueless but these are the shoes I have walked in.
